1912: Thomas Crawford built Honeywood's first rink.

1921: The roof collapsed under the weight of heavy 

          snow and the community resorted to utilizing                an open-air rink constructed in the park for                    several years later.

1948: $91,000 raised through a centennial celebration

           and the community decides to build a new

           arena. 

1949: New arena opens opens before Christmas with

           Ward Rabbitts as icemaker. Ten years later, a

           mortgage burning party celebrates its financial             freedom and success.

1961: Upstairs heated room was added, enhancing       

          comfort during hockey games.

1965: In January, a fire destroys the arena. To rebuild,

           the first Beef Barbeque is held, drawing over

           1,300 attendees. Construction begins soon after,

           and the new arena opens by year's end.

1969: "Belting" Bert Wilson first laced up his skates at

           the Honeywood Arena, and later drafted by the

           New York Rangers. He went on to play for the     

           Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, St.   

           Louis Blues, Boston Bruins, Dallas Stars, and

           Detroit Redwings.

1996: Aaron Downey's upbringing was rooted in

          Honeywood, where he honed his skills in minor            hockey under the Honeywood Minor Hockey     

          Association. His talent caught the attention of

          scouts, leading to his eventual draft by the     

          Detroit Red Wings and went on to win a Stanley            Cup in 2008. 

2008: Aaron Downey wins the cup for Detroit Red   

           Wings and brings the cup home to Honeywood

2024: Honeywood Revitalization Projects launched.

2025: Almost 60 years later, the arena requires

           significant renovations. The community rallied               in the Kraft Hockeyville Competition and Phase             1 of the Honeywood Revitalization Project is                     completed. ​​
